Find Volunteer Opportunities

There is a range and variety of volunteer roles to get involved in, across a wide range of services including home and community care, welfare, education and learning, sporting and environmental to name a few.

No matter what you’re interested in and the amount of time you have available – a day, a week, a month and a year – there is a volunteer opportunity to suit you.

The service is based in Burwood, however it operates on a sub-regional basis covering the Local Government Areas of Ashfield, Burwood, Canada Bay and Strathfield.

This site allows you to search and apply online for volunteer positions.

The volunteer positions on this site are listed and maintained on a daily basis by the community organisations within the Inner West of Sydney.

Expressing interest in a volunteering opportunity

Simply complete the online expression of interest form (just click the Express Interest link that appears under every volunteer opportunity).

This will be sent directly to Volunteer Network who will then refer to the organisation who has advertised the role.

The Volunteer Network will respond directly to you with details and information about the next steps. These may include:

  • Interview
  • Reference checking
  • Working With Children or Police Checks
  • Training

As many not-for-profit organisations looking for volunteers are operating on small budgets and limited staff (who are often volunteers themselves) it might take a few days for organisations to respond to your application. So be patient and don’t get disheartened.
